No. The structure of the industry however, put too many unnecessary hurdles for them to to overcome, and hoops for them to jump through, so that the chances of a talented writer getting there first foot on the ladder are small.

Today, publishers want a sure thing, or at least as sure as they can get it. Which is why there are so many celebrity writers around, with the fame the industry can capitalise on.

Every famous writer had to start somewhere. It’s the old catch 22 situation. You need to publish to get famous — You need fame to get published.
